Last year, the Center launched the region’s first LGBTQ+ homeless shelter with 12-beds to give more young people a place to sleep inside, find acceptance, and have an opportunity to thrive. This expansion was made possible by a grant from the California Office of Emergency Services.  However, it costs $135 per night to provide shelter, food, clothing, case management, counseling, and a pathway to a brighter future. 

In one year, we've provided 4,010 emergency and transitional bed nights provided to homeless youth in first year. And 77% of residents were queer or transgender people of color. But we can do more! Even with grant support, the need for housing outpaces our funding.
